My Path to Odoo: The Story of Eugen Zagoruiko — Founder of Codoo ERP

Today, we introduce you to Eugen Zagoruiko, the founder of Codoo ERP. His journey to Odoo was anything but accidental—and it was his personal experience that helped him create a company that now implements ERP systems quickly, efficiently, and with a deep understanding of real business needs.

First Encounter with Odoo

At the beginning of my IT career, I joined a product company that was working with an ERP system then known as OpenERP. This solution was developed for the British market, offered deep customization, and was known for its high quality. It was in demand, and for me, it became a real window into a new world.

I worked as a developer and saw how our team’s business analysts implemented non-standard features, transforming the system into a tool that solved very specific client problems. I was genuinely impressed by the platform’s flexibility: on one hand—serious business logic, on the other—openness and convenience for modifications. For an engineer, it was almost magic: changing the system’s behavior, automating processes, and immediately seeing how the result impacted business efficiency.

With each project, I delved deeper into the logic of OpenERP, and my interest grew alongside it. I started to perceive it not just as a work tool but as an ecosystem for realizing the boldest ideas. Eventually, rebranding happened and OpenERP became Odoo. New tools and features were added, such as the website builder. For me, this was a symbol not only of the product’s evolution but of an important stage in my own professional growth.

My insight was this: I saw that this system could indeed solve real business pains. And I realized—this was what I wanted to dedicate myself to.

What Hooked Me and Inspired Me to Work with Odoo

What inspired me most was the very idea: there are countless businesses in the world—from tiny startups to huge corporations — but they all share the same need: order, control, and predictability in their processes. An ERP system transforms the chaos of data into a comprehensible structure.

After seeing how effectively Odoo does this, I understood: this is a tool that genuinely changes the reality of companies.

The second insight that inspired me was the drive of businesses to automate everything possible. Every company wants to spend less time on routine and more on growth. In Odoo, I saw a platform that makes this possible while leaving plenty of room for creative solutions.

I was also struck by the balance between functionality, simplicity, and cost. Usually, businesses have to sacrifice something: accept an expensive solution or settle for limitations. But Odoo showed that it’s possible to have a powerful system that remains flexible, clear, and economically justified.

Experience Before Launching Codoo ERP

My path in the ERP sphere evolved step by step. I started as a developer in different companies and always worked with ERP-class systems—mainly Odoo and its predecessors. Over time, I came to realize that it was not just about code or interfaces, but about a tool that helps businesses bring order and grow confidently.

Later, I advanced as a project coordinator and business analyst—I learned to build processes and to speak the same language as clients. Eventually, I was entrusted with creating and leading an entire Odoo ERP implementation department. This became crucial experience: I witnessed firsthand how a team is formed, how strategy is built, and how systemic solutions transform a business from within.

Combining technical background with strategic process understanding became the foundation for launching Codoo ERP. Here, I was able to apply my experience in full—from engineering knowledge to a vision of business at the strategic level.

Conclusion

Today, looking back, I see that discovering Odoo became a turning point in my career. This system helped me grow as a specialist and, eventually, build my own company. Codoo ERP was born from the belief that technology should be simple, flexible, and genuinely beneficial to business.
